An atom bomb is a weapon which derives its destructive force from nuclear reactions of fission. As a result, even an atom bomb with a small yield is significantly more powerful than the largest conventional explosives, and a single weapon is capable of destroying an entire city.

They have been used only twice, both by the USA on Japan during the second world war on the twin cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki..
