The Shilpa Shetty-Richard Gere kiss has triggered many reactions. The Hollywood megastar planted a series of kisses on Shilpa Shetty’s cheek in a function for AIDS awareness in Delhi for Indian truck-drivers who are a vulnerable section of society. AIDS IS not transferable through a kiss. Probably Richard went overboard with his expression in trying to convince people that kissing is harmless. The public display of planting kisses on the Bollywood diva seemed indecent. Shilpa however, remained unaffected. The media and public flooded over with heated comments. For some people it was Shilpa’s problem, while for others it was an obscene act put up for getting undue publicity. Had it been a solitary kiss planted on her cheek it would have been fine but by grabbing the actress and kissing her with such rashness has changed it into a vulgar act. Few months back it was Rakhi Sawant who brewed controversy with the infamous kiss planted on her lips by Mika that gave her much sought after publicity. Now it is Shilpa Shetty who seemed to have no objection to Gere kissing her publicly.
