Just watched on a blog called Something Old, Something New this first season episode of "WKRP in Cincinnati" titled A Date with Jennifer. I had previously watched this on TV Land where Foreigner's "Hot Blooded" was replaced with some generic tune made up for the syndicated version. As a kid, I remember hearing the actual tune from my room while I was doing my homework when this episode first aired more
Just watched on a blog called Something Old, Something New this first season episode of "WKRP in Cincinnati" titled A Date with Jennifer. I had previously watched this on TV Land where Foreigner's "Hot Blooded" was replaced with some generic tune made up for the syndicated version. As a kid, I remember hearing the actual tune from my room while I was doing my homework when this episode first aired on CBS so I'm now glad to see the whole thing as it originally was broadcast (though the person who uploaded this got it from three different sites for the various segments he put on). Les Nessman is about to get the Silver Sow award and is anxious to get a date for the banquet. Herb convinces Les to ask Jennifer who agrees to Herb's consternation! He then gets station manager Arthur Carlson-who's been memo crazy lately-to send one to his employees a "No Fraternization" one which threatens to put the kibosh on the whole Les/Jennifer date. When Les confronts Carlson, Arthur reneges on the whole thing. After the banquet, Herb apologizes just before Les tells him something about Jennifer that riles him up again...Quite a funny episode co-written by Les himself-Richard Saunders-and it's refreshing to finally see this one as it originally aired down to a promo for a new show called "The Dukes of Hazzard" and the live announcement for another CBS show that aired during the closing credits. The "Hot Blooded" sequence with Les making some moves putting on his hairpiece is especially funny and I loved the whole line in front of Les' desk representing the imaginary wall that's supposed to be his private office and how everyone tries to be courteous about it! Now if only someone could release the series DVD with all the episodes as they originally aired... (without the commercials, of course!)
