After you get accustomed to the film's strange and incredibly daring idea, you come to realize this may be a very original story. After you get accustomed to the film's strange and incredibly daring idea, you come to realize this may be a very original story. I heard people tell me this is a film that will be repositioned by time in the audience's perspective. That it is a kind of "guilty pleasure" type of film, talking about the fact that, even in old age, people can dream of reliving their youth by means of a relationship with a lovely, young and adorable partner. Strangely enough and yet maybe not that strange, the situation that this film portrays started to be lived out intensively in post-communist Romania. More and more, young beautiful girls started to realize that their life dreams can be more easily be fulfilled if they choose a rich, much more experienced and mature partner, sometimes a foreigner, so as to best cope with life in jungle-like capitalist Romania. Each partner gets his life's desire in a relationship that often proves really honest and enduring in time. What better way to make your life worthwhile than helping out someone who loves you become what he or she wants? What better legacy can there be? This movie has nothing of the fierceness of other recent Romanian films, it has a nice intimate atmosphere. I recommend the German version.
