There's a mysterious pair of pink shoes (heels, that is) that keep appearing in a subway area. Usually the wearer of the shoes dies horribly. That would be enough to curb most women of their obsessive shoe-shopping but not Sun-Jae, who has a rather large collection and has just become "divorced" from her husband. She finds these shoes and brings them home, only to have her young daughter become rather obsessed with them too. Sun-Jae is also having an office re-done for her to open a business, and she finds herself becoming involved with the odd young man who is doing the remodeling. As time passes more people, including a family friend, find out about these wonderful shoes and want to try them on, even take them, including an old family friend, who ends up modeling her death in a store window, in quite gruesome fashion. Seems these shoes have a past and in investigating this past it seems as though where Sun-Jae now lives was the site of a rather gruesome accident years ago that claimed the original owner and now, of course, there's some kind of vengeance being taken from beyond the grave. A well done, for the most part, film, but with what has become typical elements of Asian (read: Korean or Japanese) cinema, like the long black hair over a woman's face, which was scary the first time but now seems like merely a call for better grooming. A very weird film and it has lots of little side things you have to pay attention to, like exactly what happened to Sun-Jae's husband? Worth seeing for fans of Asian cinema, better than some I've seen lately. 8 out of 10.
