Animation Favorites from the National Film Board of Canada (1994)

I have loved Canadian cartoons for some time--having seen quite a few very memorable ones. I especially like their bizarre sense of humor and I can easily see why so many of their films have been nominated for Oscars for Best Animated Short. However, when I saw this collection, I was shocked at the choices. Many of the cartoons were incredibly dull and many of the very funniest ones I've loved weren't included--such as THE BIG SNIT and GET A JOB. The emphasis really seemed to be on the artsy cartoons versus the fun ones.To make things worse, I really wish Leonard Maltin had not been included on the disk for narration. Too much time was spent listening to his rather pretentious segments before each cartoon--too little time was left for the films.A curiously uninteresting collections--try to find a different compilation and you'll probably be a lot happier.
