Wesley, why can't I stay? - This episode may possibly be my favorite of the 5th season, well, this or 'Not Fade Away'. Although I am not one of 'Fred's biggest fans, I mean, she doesn't bother me (most of the time) but I just don't think she's that interesting, especially during the most part of season 5 where she was often simply a background character. But the terrific acting from the cast, especially miss Amy Acker and Alexis Denisof and the witty, yet depressing dialog of Joss Whedon is what makes this episode so special. Killing off 'Fred' and introducing 'Illyria' was to me, the best thing they did the 5th season. It brought so much angst and powerful scenes to the last couple of episodes, but I have to say that it was heart-breaking watching 'Fred' die, in pain, and slowly while her organs cook. The wittiness of this episode was the whole 'Astronauts vs Cavemen' arguments, though Cavemen win, obviously. 'Gunn's storyline was also pretty good, for a change, he talks to the conduit that is dressed up as him and even offers his own life for 'Fred', but the conduit reveals that they already have 'Gunn's soul. We also meet 'Drogyn', he guards a hole in the world, he says that there is a way to save 'Fred' but if they do, it will cost the lives of a lot of other people - Screw the world. But after a lot of struggle, 'Fred' dies in 'Wesley's arms and turns blue. FRED: I have to work. WESLEY: You have to lie down. FRED: I am not, I am not the damsel in distress. I am not some case. I have to work this. I lived in a cave for 5 years in a world where they killed my kind like cattle. I am not going to be cut down by some monster flu. I am better than that! But I wonder... how very scared I am. WESLEY: I swear on my life, we will stop this, but you must be back in bed. That's where I need you to fight. FRED: Like I'm 6 years old? This is a house of death. (10 out of 10)
