If the Walkman is the aging king of portable media players, Apple's iPod is prince regent. It rules the realm of digital music like no other device: According to the NPD Group, more than eight out of ten portable players sold at retail by mid-2005 were iPods.

You know even though the Ipod has a good interface and system it has a lot of flaws and is not an example of a good product that companies should put on the market. First of all the battery is very bad and it dies in a year. No one can open it and put new batteries other than apple's service personnel who rip you off if you go there after your warranty period. Also the Ipod crashes so easily. My ipod crashed within a year and a half of purchasing it.
